Familiar v0.6-pre1

[Introduction]

Familiar v0.6-pre1 is an development update release to Familiar. It has not been tested enough to declare it stable. If you find bugs, you can report them to Handhelds.org Bugzilla. Here is a handy link for creating a Familiar v0.6-pre1 bug report if you have trouble deciphering which component to submit a bug report against.

Supports H3100, H3600, H3700, and H3800.

We plan to add Jornada 56x support in v0.6, but it is not ready for this pre-release.

Although we have begun porting Linux to the H3900, there is nothing ready yet. See H3900 Linux port status page for details.

[Changes To v0.6-pre1]

ipkg: ipkg supports Provides, Conflicts, and Replaces now, as well as checking dependences before removing packages.
busybox: This release uses busybox for more compact basic linux utilities. This space savings enables us to make compact bootstrap images containing either basic X or opie.
opie: This release contains opie as one of the graphical interface choices.
gpe: gpe is a gtk-based pda software suite for the iPAQ, written from scratch.
non-root logins: GPE's X display manager (gpe-dm) and login manager enable creation and usage of non-root user accounts.
bluez updates: Updated to bluez 2.x snapshot
